Hooray! I’ve been honored to visit Japan in June 2007 as a guest of Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund. The JFMF Teacher Program is an educational and professional development program. It is intended to provide educators with an overview of Japan's education system, culture and people through a 3-week immersion program.
JFMF provides room and board throughout the program.
We are required to attend the pre-departure orientation in San Francisco on Sunday June 10th. I’m so anxious , can hardly wait to leave.

About Me
I work as an English as a Second Language teacher for Jefferson County Public Schools. My home school, Shawnee High School is located at 4018 W. Market St. in Louisville, Kentucky. This urban high school is a magnet school placed in a largely African American community. Almost 700 students can choose from four magnet programs (Aviation Flight, Aviation Maintenance, Travel and Tourism, or Marine Technology) and optional programs (Visual Arts, Computer Technology, Band, and Chorus). The latest addition to the school is an ESL Newcomer Academy, where I work. This program is designed to meet the needs of incoming ESL students with low-level English literacy skills and often limited formal schooling in their native countries. All students in our academy are recent arrivals to the United States. One hundred twenty-five students enrolled since August 2006, coming from nineteen different countries, speaking twenty-one different languages and dialects. There are nine teachers in our program whose primary goal is to help students acquire basic English, core academic skills, and acculturate them to the U.S. school system.
